I’m tempted to try MicSwitch for the onscreen display, but it doesn’t look like it does volume up and volume down, so I think I’m going to stick with my current approach for a while longer, especially since it seems to be pretty stable and glitch-free. I get the on screen volume meter when I press the buttons, but there is no change in the volume even when I press mute, it doesnt actually mute it (see image below) and only way to change the volume is to go into the Control Panel and use the Volume Control. They all work fine, but unlike speaker volume/status, I don’t get an onscreen or Notification-Area status indicator for the microphone, because neither Microsoft nor my laptop manufacturer supplied one. Just recently my Volume & Mute HotKeys dont seem to be working. The current call popup that does appear just shows the audio call status with mute and hangup options, but doesnt show the video like it has in previous versions of skype. My girlfriend has had an issue with skype where a video call wont show when she opens another window. Skype for Business may not have access to your phones microphone. You may find that some of the shortcuts are annoying to access or remember, or actively conflict with another shortcut you have configured for another program. So, I used Nirsoft Utilities’ SoundVolumeView to extract the SoundVolumeView command-line argument for toggling my microphone array between muted and unmuted (super-easy, as in two clicks), and then I edited *that* argument a little to make some “mic volume up 2%” and “mic volume down 2%” command-line arguments (also very easy). An example shortcut where this could be extremely and regularly useful, is the Mute/Unmute My Audio shortcut which toggles your microphone on and off via the shortcut Alt + A. upon trying out different hold options I have found that muting the mic will mute the music as. (Super-convenient, right? You can get there faster by running %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL mmsys.cpl,1 but that’s *still* not very convenient.) Skype for business music on hold not working for. I couldn’t find any microphone volume controls on my laptop other than in classic Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab > Properties > Levels. It’s no substitute for a hardware cut-off switch, but not a lot of laptops come with those. I try to keep my mic muted by default and unmute it when needed.
